1 head garlic, cloves separated and peeled
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
1/2 cup grated Parmesan
1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil
1 teaspoon grated lemon zest
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
6 thick slices of artisan bread
First, place a small saucepan on medium heat. Add butter and garlic. Cook until garlic is tender and golden brown. Once finished, move mixture to a medium sized bowl and let cool. Once cooled add parmesan cheese, basil, red pepper flakes, and a tiny bit of salt to taste. Mash ingredients together with a fork. Let mixture sit for 5 minutes. Turn on broiler. Place sliced bread on baking sheet and toast until golden brown. Flip and repeat process. Remove bread from oven and let cool enough to handle. Spread mixture on top of each slice. Place slices back under broiler until cheese is bubbling. Remove from oven, cool, and enjoy!
